The presidential working group on digital asset markets, expected to be led by Sacks, has a structured timeline for regulatory action. Federal agencies, including the U.S. Treasury, Department of Justice, and Securities and Exchange Commission, have been tasked with identifying all relevant crypto-related laws by the end of February.
Between March and July, these agencies will review existing legislation and suggest amendments or eliminations where necessary. A comprehensive regulatory framework is expected to be presented to President Trump’s office within 180 days of July. The proposals will address key areas such as market structure, stablecoins, investor protections, and oversight mechanisms. Congressional hearings and regulatory reviews will follow before any measures are finalized.
Additional discussions on digital asset policy are also scheduled. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Acting Chair Caroline Pham is set to hold a roundtable on the topic. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has also launched a cryptocurrency task force under Interim Chair Mark Uyeda, signaling further regulatory engagement at the federal level.
The press conference marks the first significant step in the Trump administration’s broader initiative to implement structured digital asset policies. It comes amid increased industry calls for regulatory clarity and a streamlined approach to crypto oversight.
