Take-Two reveals plans to support Nintendo Switch 2 in line with their “longstanding relationship”

Take-Two expressed its support for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The company’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, mentioned the Switch and Switch 2 consoles can support all audiences.

Take-Two revealed its position on Nintendo Switch 2 as it reported its financial results. During a call with investors, Take-Two CEO said the publisher had a long-standing relationship with Nintendo and was optimistic about the new console.

Take-Two to continue long-standing relationship with Nintendo

Strauss Zelnick, Take-Two’s CEO, commented that the company supported Nintendo Switch when it made sense for the individual release. He added that in the past, Nintendo platforms had not been designed for younger audiences, and this was reflected in their release schedule. With the current Switch and the soon-to-launch Switch 2, the Take-Two CEO added that Nintendo could accommodate any audience.

During the call, the CEO highlighted that the publisher’s Civilization 7 was already available on Switch. He added that the company had nothing specific to report but fully expected to collaborate with Switch.

Since its launch, Take-Two has brought various games to Nintendo Switch, including Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy, NBA 2K, BioShock titles, and L.A Noire.

Take Two’s latest report on GTA 6 stated that the game will launch in 2025; however, the company has not confirmed whether GTA 6 will be available on Switch 2. The publisher announced last year that the game would be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Take Two’s statement comes after EA CEO Andrew Wilson hinted at the company’s support for the new Switch console. The CEO hinted that the Madden NFL series could return on the new Nintendo Switch 2 console. He added the last time the franchise made an entry on Nintendo was in 2012 through Madden NFL 13 and Wii U.

In an earnings call earlier this week, the EA CEO revealed that any time a new console was introduced into the marketplace, it benefited the company. He added that the console allowed the company to access new players.

Wilson pointed out that the franchise typically did well on Nintendo platforms in the past. He said the company expects products like EA Sports FC and Madden to find energy on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console. Wilson acknowledged that the Sims series succeeded on Nintendo Switch, drawing more players who had not played EA games before.

Former Play Station head Shuhei Yoshida also commented on the Switch 2 reveal. He expressed his excitement for the new console and added that he hoped Nintendo would have more surprises regarding it. He pointed out his surprise at the joy-con mouse feature, noting that the Nintendo Switch 2 could be more powerful than its predecessor.

Insider tvPH highlighted last month that the Nintendo Switch 2 caught the attention of most third-party developers, including EA, Bandai Namco, Microsoft, Sega, and Ubisoft.

Nintendo to announce more details about Switch 2 in April

Nintendo revealed the Switch 2 console last month, highlighting improvements in the system specs compared to its predecessor. In the trailer, Nintendo revealed the Switch 2 would be backwards compatible with most physical and digital Switch games. However, the company warned that certain Nintendo Switch games would not be fully compatible with the new console.

The gaming company also highlighted that more details on the Switch 2 console will be revealed at the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct scheduled for April 2, 2025. The company did not reveal titles that will feature on the new console. However, gamers identified from the trailer that Mario Kart may be part of the roundup in the new console.

The company also revealed more details on the console, such as the new magnetic joystick design, an improvement from its predecessor, whose joysticks slid into position via rails. Nintendo has yet to confirm the console’s exact launch date, system specs, and price, which gamers anticipate will be revealed in the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct.
