A legal battle surrounding Argentina’s LIBRA token scandal has escalated, with prominent lawyer Gregorio Dalbon calling for a global arrest warrant to be issued against Hayden Davis, the co-creator of the controversial cryptocurrency. Reports from local media outlets Página 12 and Perfil on March 11 indicate that Dalbon has formally requested an Interpol Red Notice, which would alert international law enforcement to locate and arrest Davis for potential extradition.
Dalbon’s petition was filed with prosecutor Eduardo Taiano and judge María Servini, both of whom are investigating Argentine President Javier Milei’s alleged involvement in the memecoin. In the filing, Dalbon argued that Davis poses a “procedural risk” due to his access to significant financial resources, which could allow him to evade justice.
The lawyer, who previously represented former Argentine President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner in her corruption case, warned that Davis’ role in the LIBRA token’s rise and fall makes him a key figure in the ongoing investigation.
Fallout from the LIBRA Token Collapse
The LIBRA token was launched on February 14, and its value skyrocketed after Milei shared it on social media, pushing its market cap beyond $4 billion. However, allegations quickly emerged that Davis and his team at Kelsier Ventures had orchestrated a pump-and-dump scheme, holding a substantial portion of the token’s supply and selling at its peak—leading to a devastating price collapse.
Following LIBRA’s implosion, multiple fraud charges were filed against Milei in Argentine courts, and complaints about potential financial crimes were submitted to both local authorities and the U.S. Justice Department. Milei, however, has denied promoting the token, stating that he merely “spread the word” about its existence rather than endorsing it as an investment.
Davis Denies Wrongdoing
Davis, whose firm Kelsier Ventures allegedly profited $100 million from the token launch, has insisted that LIBRA was a “failure, not a scam.” Speaking with investigative YouTuber Stephen Findeisen, Davis refuted claims that he personally owned or sold LIBRA tokens. However, leaked messages purportedly show him boasting about paying Milei’s sister, Karina Milei, to have the president promote the token on social media—an accusation Davis denies.
With Dalbon’s request for an Interpol Red Notice, the case has now taken an international turn, raising questions about whether Davis will face legal consequences for his role in one of Argentina’s most politically charged crypto controversies.
