Haun Ventures Aims to Raise $1B for New Crypto Investment Funds

Haun Ventures, the crypto-focused venture capital firm founded by former Coinbase board member Katie Haun, is reportedly seeking to raise $1 billion for two new investment funds over the next three months. According to Fortune Crypto, half of the capital—$500 million—will be allocated to early-stage crypto projects, while the remaining $500 million will target late-stage crypto investments.

The fundraising effort comes amid changing market conditions compared to 2022, when Haun’s firm raised $1.5 billion during its debut funding round. Despite lowering its target this time, the VC firm reportedly anticipates that the funds will be “oversubscribed”, signaling strong investor interest in the crypto sector.

Funding Round Set to Close in June

The latest Haun Ventures fundraising round is expected to close by June 2025 and could become one of the largest crypto-focused VC rounds in the past two years. The firm’s initial round in March 2022 was a standout, marking one of the largest crypto venture raises at the time.

Haun Ventures is following in the footsteps of major players like Paradigm and Pantera Capital, both of which sought to raise substantial funds in 2024. In June 2024, Paradigm closed a $850 million fund, while Pantera Capital aimed to raise over $1 billion for a new blockchain-focused investment vehicle.

Haun’s latest round could further cement its influence in the crypto VC landscape, which has seen renewed activity despite the industry’s volatility.

While the specific focus of Haun’s upcoming funds has not been disclosed, industry analysts predict that stablecoins will remain a major area of interest in 2025.

Recently, Haun Ventures participated in Bitwise’s $70 million funding round, joining heavyweights like Electric Capital, MassMutual, and MIT Investment Management Company.

Meanwhile, HashKey Capital CEO Deng Chao told Cointelegraph that stablecoins were the most reliable crypto use case in 2024, suggesting the sector will continue to attract substantial VC funding next year.

However, analysts caution that while VC investment in 2025 is expected to surpass 2024 levels, it will likely fall short of the $33.8 billion raised during the 2021 bull market, which far exceeded the $13.6 billion recorded in 2024.
