Tech giants OpenAI and Google have called for the Trump-led US government to make a decisive action plan to secure the nation’s lead in AI industry. Makers of ChatGPT, OpenAI, has written a letter to the Office of Science and Technology stating the risks posed by China based AI start-up projects, especially after the launch of Deepseek AI and Manus AI.
Google has also backed the statement made by OpenAI and insisted that “US’ lead” in AI race is “not assured.” Recently, the launch of two AI projects from China had resulted in global stock markets and crypto markets crash, as it gave stiff competition to ChatGPT, Gemini, GrokAI among others.
As America’s world-leading AI sector approaches AGI, with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) determined to overtake us by 2030, the Trump Administration’s new AI Action Plan can ensure that American-led AI built on democratic principles continues to prevail over CCP-built autocratic, authoritarian AI,” said OpenAI in their letter.
Google also backed this belief and stated in a different letter, “While America currently leads the world in AI, and is home to the most capable and widely adopted AI models and tools—our lead is not assured.”
China’s growing dominance in AI world.
After the successful launch of DeepSeek AI and Manus AI, Chinese government is encouraging AI companies to make use of the emerging technology, in order to compete with the U.S. and other nations.
In 2017, China rolled out an AI Development Plan to make the Asian powerhouse a leader in AI by 2030. Chinese President Xi Jinping also met with the top leaders of tech companies, urging them to use AI to overcome challenges like tariffs from the USA and dominate the sector.
US AI companies call for an action plan
AI giants OpenAI and Google have presented key pointers for an action point to maintain U.S. dominance in the AI industry even as the indigenous sector steps into Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). The White House had requested information on developing an AI Action Plan to ensure US’s lead over other nations, especially China.
Google and OpenAI have stress the importance of a quick and forceful response to China’s growing presence. While Google underlined that policy decisions would define the result of the worldwide AI competition, OpenAI cautioned that America’s dominance in artificial intelligence is closing.
Both companies also stressed on regulated strategies for freedom and voluntary collaboration between government and private firms. They emphasized export policies for worldwide adoption of American AI systems to maintain its lead. They are also focused on developing AI R&D to ensure a robust infrastructure.
