OpenAI Set to Launch GPT-4.5, GPT-5 Coming Soon, Says Altman

OpenAI is gearing up to launch GPT-4.5 in the coming weeks, with GPT-5 expected in the next few months, according to CEO Sam Altman. In a Feb. 13 post on X, Altman revealed that GPT-4.5, internally named “Orion,” will be OpenAI’s final non-chain-of-thought model.

The company plans to integrate the o-series and GPT-series models to form one AI system that can perform various tasks effectively. OpenAI’s reasoning model, o3, will be incorporated into GPT-5 for fact-checking and avoiding the distribution of fake news.

OpenAI released o3-mini on January 31 to enhance mathematical problem solving, programming, and data analysis. The race for AI is on and China’s DeepSeek AI is making headlines.

It is said to have shaken the U.S. stock and crypto markets on its launch. Microsoft and OpenAI are now looking into a group associated with DeepSeek for possibly scraping data from ChatGPT’s API.

However, other market players such as DeepMind, a Google’s subsidiary, and Nvidia are advancing the AI technology. Gemini 2.0 was recently released by DeepMind to help the future AI agents. Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang also pointed to agentic AI as a trend that might reshape the industry and is one on which the company is focused.

As the next-generation OpenAI models are set to be released, the AI war is on. In the future, users will be able to have more enhanced and smart tools through the help of AI.
