SEA Blockchain Week Cancelled Due to Myanmar-Thailand Earthquake

The Southeast Asia Blockchain Week (SEABW) 2025, a premier conference dedicated to exploring the evolving landscape of Web3 technology, has been officially cancelled in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake in Thailand-Myanmar last week.

Organizers announced the cancellation of an event on X (formerly Twitter) and SEAWB’s official website, expressing their condolences to the victims of the massive earthquake that struck the belt on Friday last week. Over 2000 people died and several thousands were left injured after the earthquake.

Originally scheduled for April 2-3 at ICONSIAM in Bangkok, Thailand, the event aimed to bring together industry leaders, innovators, and enthusiasts to discuss and collaborate on the latest trends, developments, and opportunities within the Web3 ecosystem in one of the world’s most dynamic and rapidly growing regions.

SEABW organizing team made the cancellation decision because of the destructive earthquake in Myanmar-Thailand so they can focus on safety support for affected communities. Through a formal announcement, the organizers proclaimed their remorse towards the cancellation.

“With a heavy heart, we announce the cancellation of SEABW 2025. This decision follows the recent Myanmar-Thailand earthquake. As a Web3 conference representing the Southeast Asia region, we stand in solidarity with those affected and extend our deepest condolences. Out of respect for the victims and ongoing concerns around safety due to potential aftershocks, we believe this is the most responsible course of action,” read a statement from SEABQ team.

The organizers created these measures to help their affected community members during this challenging time. All ticket purchasers will obtain a complete refund through check payments in a period of 1-2 weeks. However, people who have stayed in Bangkok can join a meetup created by the community, which will receive notification details shortly.
