- Shytoshi Kusama has intrigued members of the Shiba Inu community with a location change.
- Though cryptic, speculations regarding a potentially big upgrade remain high.
Shytoshi Kusama, the pseudonymous leader behind the Shiba Inu (SHIB) ecosystem, has stunned the community with a mysterious location reveal. SHIB enthusiast KURO attracted the community’s attention by stating that Kusama has changed the geo location status on his official X account.
Shytoshi Kusama Hints at Upcoming Changes
While the change in Kusama’s geolocation looks rather cryptic, it hints at upcoming changes in the Shiba Inu ecosystem. Previously, Kusama’s X profile showed an actual city in a country. However, a screenshot shared by KURO revealed that Kusama has changed his location to “Cracking the Chrysalis.”

A chrysalis is a stage in a butterfly’s life cycle when it remains in a cocoon before it becomes an adult insect with wings. Therefore, the community views Shytoshi’s geolocation as a bullish hint by the SHIB team that something big is brewing.
The location change could also signal the launch of the layer-3 solution on Shibarium, a development on the horizon for roughly a year. At the beginning of the year, Shytoshi Kusama announced that he had spoken to investors worldwide and raised $12 million to build the layer-3 network on Shibarium.
The funds were raised by selling TREAT tokens, expected to function as the L3 network’s lifeblood. As reviewed in our recent publication, the launch of TREAT adds utility to the Shiba Inu ecosystem, enhancing liquidity, rewards, and Metaverse functionality.
Indeed, the L3 solution, Shib Alpha, is an important launch for the Shiba Inu network and its ecosystem. The SHIB Alpha layer will place a high emphasis on user data protection. The solution would allow users to provide their personal information to other parties, including law enforcement agencies, only if they choose to.
Additionally, it will help boost transaction speed and throughput while lowering gas fees. In addition to TREAT, SHI, the long-anticipated stablecoin that has been in the works for several years, will also be used for transactions.
Kusama’s Vision for the Shiba Inu Ecosystem
In a previous article, we discussed Kusama’s vision for the Shiba Inu ecosystem in the next five years. The pseudonymous leader highlighted that the team aims to make Shiba Inu a global powerhouse. Based on this vision, he urged crypto enthusiasts to align with changing the trajectory of history by onboarding Web2 users to Web3.
Kusama highlighted that SHIB must partner with governments and other agencies to push the Shiba Inu technology globally to achieve this goal.
Furthermore, Shytoshi Kusama recently teased future developments for the SHIB Metaverse. As summarized in our earlier news story, the lead developer promised the community that ongoing developments would provide more insight into the project’s direction.
Meanwhile, the Shiba Inu ecosystem continues to expand, reaching an impressive 1.5 million holders since its launch in 2020. Likewise, Shibarium’s total block count has surpassed 10 million, indicating the network’s growing on-chain activity.
