- Zilliqa postponed its 2.0 mainnet launch to April 2025 to improve network stability and readiness.
- Aventurine proto-mainnet and AI tools like ElizaOS and GOAT help prepare for the Zilliqa 2.0 transition.
Zilliqa has once again caught the attention of the crypto community after announcing the postponement of the Zilliqa 2.0 mainnet launch until the end of April 2025. This decision came after the team conducted a series of stress tests on the proto-mainnet and attempted to align all critical components with their ecosystem partners.
While the reason for the delay sounds reasonable, the market did not seem to welcome it with a smile. The ZIL token immediately corrected 3.37% in the last 24 hours, dropping to around $0.01102.
Delaying for a Smoother Migration
Behind the decision to delay the initial schedule, Zilliqa said that they wanted to ensure that all technical aspects of the new protocol were completely solid before the migration process was carried out.
Zilliqa 2.0 – Mainnet Migration Update
We have conducted stress tests on the proto-mainnet and intensified alignment with our ecosystem partners to ensure they are well-prepared for the mainnet launch. Based on the outcomes, we are taking the opportunity to push back the…

This process involves audits, feature testing, and ensuring that all parts, both those developed internally and by partners, are ready to operate. In the blockchain world, the migration process is like renovating a house that you still want to live in—everything must be checked carefully so that it does not cause damage when occupied.
“This adjustment allows us to focus on strengthening the stability of the protocol and ensure all essential components built by ourselves or our partners are in place, well-tested, and audited as required,” the Zilliqa team said in an official announcement.
They hope that this cautious approach will result in a safer and smoother migration for the entire user and developer community.
Zilliqa Sets the Stage With Aventurine
If we go back to December 2024, Zilliqa has actually prepared the initial groundwork by launching Aventurine, a proto-mainnet designed as a testbed for the technology that will be implemented in Zilliqa 2.0. Before new features are put into use on the main operation, developers, validators, and delegators can test them out there.
Aventurine allows the team to assess the system’s strengths and weaknesses early on and address any issues before it’s too late. Think of it as a practice run before a major test. In addition to reducing risk, this tactic allows the community time to adapt to the changes.
AI Enters the Zilliqa Ecosystem
However, by incorporating AI technology into their ecosystem, Zilliqa appears to be growing. The CNF report reveals ElizaOS started allowing on-chain activities on Zilliqa in late January. This assistance lets artificial intelligence agents run DeFi applications, send transactions, and control assets autonomously.
Additionally, this step paves the way for more extensive automation in the domains of decentralized applications, trading, and portfolio management. If users used to have to manually formulate DeFi strategies, now everything can be programmed more intelligently. It feels like having a personal assistant who knows when the best time is to swap, stake, or withdraw funds.
Simplifying Smart dApps With GOAT
Not only that, Zilliqa also strengthens its AI foundation through the integration of GOAT, a tool designed to facilitate the development of AI applications on the blockchain. GOAT supports connections to EVM and Scilla wallets, making it easier for developers to build applications that are directly connected to AI.
In other words, a previously complicated and winding process is now accessible to more people without having to be a blockchain engineer first.
